CAUTION -- Scammers on FB and IG Recently there are individuals on FB and IG attempting to steal your money using stolen photos to sell poison dart frogs. They do this using fake profiles and pages to look like small business, experienced breeders, breeders with large selections of available frogs or individual hobbyists. Ask before you buy or buy in person whenever possible. Becoming familiar with the names of respected businesses and breeders in the hobby will save you from being scammed. Despite reporting many of these profiles and pages, they are NOT likely to be removed.

Some tips to help determine if you are dealing with a SCAMMER:

Look at the date on a profile claiming to have dart frogs for sale

Look at the photos carefully…look for watermarks

Beware of very low prices or a deal that looks too good to be true

Ask for references

Ask for other opinions about the offered dart frogs in question

Ask for additional and current photos
Ask to speak on the pone 

Ask for out of water dates and lineage information

Ask the exact age of the frog(s)

Ask where the breeder parents came from

How long do they take to get back to you when you ask these common questions?

(ANY legitimate seller should have this very basic information at hand )

Ask if you can ‘ pick up ‘ your frogs ... what is the reaction and answer?

Ask to contact them by phone or email. DO NOT buy from someone that withholds contact information. Transparency is key

There are numerous individuals and businesses selling poison dart frogs. Frogs offered for sale on a business level or an individual level are more commonly legitimate and have very healthy offspring. Most are passionate and devoted to the hobby. BUT … be cautious!

Reminder…IG and FB prohibit the sale of animals. IG prohibits the sale of live animals between private individuals , though brick-and-mortar stores may offer these sales. FB prohibits posting animals for sale as it is against their community standards. As well, selling animals isn't allowed on Marketplace, groups, or buy and sell groups (private or public); this includes posting about animals for adoption.
